ĢƵ’s Early Childhood Research Center to hold 10th anniversary celebration, flagpole dedication


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s Janice A. Pattillo Early Childhood Research Center will hold its 10th anniversary celebration at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, in front of the ECRC, located at 2428 Raguet St. in Nacogdoches. The dedication of the Baker Pattillo Memorial Flagpole will be included in the celebration.

ĢƵ’s Cole Art Center to host show reception, gallery talk


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Two events will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, Stephen F. Austin State University’s historic downtown art gallery.

A reception for the exhibition “The Color of Grief” is at 3 p.m., followed by a gallery talk by Wesley Berg, assistant professor of drawing and painting in the School of Art, at 6 p.m.

ĢƵ to host collaborative art-music exhibition


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The School of Art at Stephen F. Austin State University will host the exhibition “Denali: Artists Respond to Music Inspired by Wilderness” Sept. 17 through Nov. 21 in Griffith Fine Arts Gallery, located on the ĢƵ campus.

ĢƵ hosts Little STEM Jacks


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Area elementary students explored fire trucks and ambulances, interacted with snakes and tarantulas, and built gliders out of straws and notecards during Stephen F. Austin State University’s Little STEM Jacks.

Hosted by the STEM Research and Learning Center, the program provided an immersive learning experience for students entering kindergarten through fifth grade. Students rotated between classrooms, learning physics, biology and nursing concepts.

ĢƵ alumnus and LA Fitness executive to present on campus


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University alumnus George Bedar, chief information officer for LA Fitness International, will share practical lessons learned working in the STEM industry at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, in the Cole STEM Building, Room 401.

Bedar will describe many personal experiences and observations he has made over the course of his career.

ĢƵ’s Office of Multicultural Affairs to host Noche de Gala


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University's Office of Multicultural Affairs will host Noche de Gala in celebration of Hispanic-Latinx Heritage Month at 6 p.m. Sept. 19 in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Twilight Ballroom.

"Noche de Gala is a Hispanic-Latinx Heritage Month event that focuses on celebrating the diverse identities that exist within the Latinx community,” said Andrea Flores, OMA student ambassador.

ĢƵ Gardens to host Kiwifruit Field Day


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s ĢƵ Gardens will host its third Kiwifruit Field Day with presentations on the growing, research and marketing of kiwifruit.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 20 in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building, Room 101, at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St.

Lunch will be provided, followed by a tour of the kiwifuit field trials at ĢƵ Gardens from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units will be available for participants.

ĢƵ Gardens to host fall plant sale


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s ĢƵ Gardens will host its annual Fabulous Fall Festival Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 5 in the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St. in historic Nacogdoches.

ĢƵ Gardens’ Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series to feature Houston TreeTown USA territory manager


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s ĢƵ Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Sept. 12 in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St.

Heather Thormahlen-Molik will present “Nature’s Bounty for Home and Business: Using Natural Vegetation for Wreaths, Garlands and Table Decorations.”
